Welcome to Small Worlds, an RPG based on the Old West.
Feel free to take a look around, talk to some people, ask questions if you like.
Currently, it is:
Lakeside, it used to be a nice town to live in. Not too large, but not too small, the people knew each other and the sense of community was strong. Whether you were born there or a stranger, people would greet you in the street with a smile and a tip of the hat. However, that all changed when Damien Greenson became Mayor.
Ruling with an iron fist, Mayor Greenson is a crooked, and generally cruel, man who takes bribes from many of the local outlaws to use the town as a safe haven. The townsfolk are the ones who suffer for it.

A different line every night guaranteed to blow your mind See you out on the streets, call me for a wild time So you sit home alone cause theres nothing left that you can do Theres only pictures hung in the shadows left there to look at you
Midday, the quiet period, it was the time when no one really came into the brothel and so most of the girls took their breaks. Of course, there always had to be someone there, just in case. None of the soiled doves left the brothel, even on their breaks. They weren't the most... respected in the town, and within their walls it was safe. It was only Samantha that left, headed over to the saloon to get them some food made up. The rest, they stayed in their rooms. Today, it was Lily's turn to take the later break, so she was left to watch the front of house.
Sat on one of the chairs by the book of appointments, Lilly sipped from the glass of whiskey before she rested it back on the table. Her legs were draped over the arm of the chair and she read from the book that lay in her lap. She was dressed in her work clothes, provocative under garments with her black lace up boots reaching half way up her calf. Her hair, softly curled, was half thrown up into a bun, whilst the rest flowed down over her shoulders. She played with a curl of it around her finger, lazily. She liked it when there was no one to service, it gave her time to just be with herself, do what she wanted to do.

Why had the mayor made him come here of all of the places he could have sent him. Why here? Sebastian had never once gone into the brothel. He actually quite feared it. Looking up to the building after tilting his hat upwards Seb bit on his lip. This was not good, and he would turn a shade of red that would challenge any tomato on the face of the earth.
But he had a job to do and he was not about to go and disappoint the mayor. So he would have to put his nerves aside and just go for it. Not in that way! He was not coming to the brother to go for it he was going in for buisness purposes. In and out job done...no matter how many ways Seb thought of it always ended up sounding filthy in his mind.
Closing his eyes and running a hand over his clean shaven face Seb stepped up the stairs and into the building. Taking a look around he pulled off his hat quickly. Standing there in the middle of the doorway like a lost puppy. His eyes wide at the prospect of his father seeing him go in here. That would possibly not go down too well.

Lily had been lost in a world of her own, lost within the pages of her book when he stepped in the doorway. Had it not been for the shadow he caused, that stretched out across the foyer area of the brothel, she might have not noticed he was even there. The story was beautiful, written of lands far off, where the Asian women came from, China. The way it was written meant that she could picture the landscape, smell the scents of that world, taste what the food tasted like. She could feel the way the breeze blew through the cherry blossoms, picturing it falling through the air like the gentle summer rain did over here.
Looking up, her face dropped slightly when she saw who it was. She had seen him wandering around the town when she would look out of her window or sit out the front of the brothel with the other girls. Men tended to have loose tongues when they tried to impress the hookers, even though they still had to pay. She had heard word that he worked for the mayor, heard from other girls who cooed and giggled about how they would pay the fee to be the one he picked. He had never come in though, which caused Lily to ponder why he had this time.
"Can I help you?" She smiled, laying the book down on the side of her table, next to her glass. Pushing herself out of the chair, she headed over to the desk where the appointment book was, laying her hands out on the wood and crossing one boot over the other. It was the training, be professional but alluring. She had seen Samantha do it over and over again, the woman was brilliant at it. She could have some of the men eating out of her hand within minutes.

Clearing his throat Sebastian looked at the woman who had come over to the main desk "Oh I'm not here for that" He said hurriedly his face as had been thought to have done turned red. He felt a little uncomfortable around women. Sure he could talk the talk and put on the charm when he needed to. But in a place like this? Well jesus it was hard not to blush. That and the fact she was hardly dressed.
"I'm here on buisness of the mayor...he sent me over you were expecting me I think" He said with a weak smile. Ach she had thought he was here for...that. Oh god what had people been saying about him around town? Did his father know?
Shaking the thoughts aside Sebastian placed his hat back onto his head tilting it slightly just for effect. His eyes wandered over the woman's form again, He could not help it after all she was a hooker and she was hardly even dressed. Any hot blooded male would look twice.

Lily looked down, hiding the genuine smile that had covered her face when he blushed and told her he wasn't here for that. Oh if only the girls could see him now! They would talk about what they thought he was like, to talk to, to sleep with, you name it. None of their little fantasies were even close to what he was really like. Pushing her hair behind her ear, she put her weight onto one foot, causing her hip to stick out slightly so she rested one hand on that hip and the other rested on table,
"Business of the Mayor?" Her face dropped, she didn't like that man. She couldn't show it to him though, not if he was working for the guy. Of course, her views could have been biased. She knew no different than what the town was like now, where the Mayor would send over those who he favoured for 'discount' prices, which meant free. They were not generally nice guys, they were the sort who left the girls crying and beaten. It made Samantha livid and she could be heard stomping around the brothel, taking bare of the girls who had been used and abused.
Looking down on the desk for anything Samantha might have left her as a clue, there was nothing, so Lily finally made herself look into his eyes, frowning slightly,
"Um, Madame Slater didn't leave me anything... I'm not usually down here." She sighed and rubbed her fingers against her forehead. If he took this back to the Mayor, it could cause issues for Samantha and Lily didn't want that happening to the woman who had practically been a mother to her. "What was it? What were we expecting you for?" He obviously hadn't been sent for the 'discount' prices, he'd already admitted he wasn't here for that. She managed a small smile, apologetic in tone. She really didn't want to piss this guy off.

Sebastian was feeling a little nervous in the brothel. The way this paticular woman was dressed was a little unerving. He could not help but allow his eyes to wander slightly, He was only male after all. Looking down for a moment while Lily spoke Seb shook his head "He told me I was to come here to collect some of the earnings" He explained.
"I thought you would have been expecting me, I know I'm not the regular guy to come and get it but..yeah...well" Chewing on his lip by now the young male nodded as she explained she was not normally down here "Ah then that's why I was told to seek a Ms Slater"
Shifting his stance Sebastian folded his arms across his chest, Looking over his shoulder as he heard someone coming down the stairs, His eyes widened slightly as another half naked woman descended down the stairs, He blushed red and turned away only to look at Lily, He blushed further and cleared his throat.
"I'll um...I could come back at a later time if that makes things easier for you. I mean the Mayor didn't exactly seem to be urgently in need of the funds so I guess it could wait a day or two...I mean I am not trying to make out that you make no buisness here..." He cursed himself inwardly

Trying to remain professional and try and save whatever she could from getting back to the Mayor, Lily tried to hide the panic that was setting in fast and heavy. Her eyes widened when he spoke about the earnings, she'd heard Samantha talk about that before, about how the Mayor was robbing them all blind. Now the question became where did Samantha keep all of that? She never told any of the girls because they were all on the breadline, all desperate for money... none of them could really be trusted. At least he wasn't the normal guy, Lily thought she knew who he spoke of, a man who ogled the girls whenever he came in, constantly reeking of cheap cigarettes and alcohol. Many a time Samantha had ushered Lily away when she saw him coming, and only once had Lily had the misfortune of being in his eye line. A quick grope as she had hurried past to get upstairs and then he had come back later, when he was 'off the clock' and picked her out. That was a night Lily constantly tried to forget.
Lily was getting nervous now she knew he was here for the Mayor. She searched the table in front of her, almost knocking jars of ink over before her hands travelled to the hem of her top, fiddling with the lace that decorated the bottom, revealing just the tiniest line of tanned skin on her slender stomach. She only looked up to catch him blushing as one of the other girls wandered through the parlor. He didn't look like he belonged working for the Mayor, he seemed too shy and... well... nice. The other man would have whisked her friend back up the stairs. She sighed out when he mentioned coming back later, running a hand into her hair as she tried to think. Getting him to come back would mean the Mayor was more likely to find out. She smiled half heartedly at his back pedaling,
"Uh... or you could wait. We have a bar just through there, I could get you a drink. Madame Slater shouldn't be too long, she was only going across into town to get some food from the saloon. I should say she'll be back presently." Lily's hand fell to her side, the seductive prostitute was gone and Chelsea, the girl who considered Samantha a mother she never had, stood before him, almost begging him to stay.

To say he felt out of place would have been an understatement, Sebastian wanted out of here. Having never understood the principle of a brothel he had swayed away from it for all the years he had lived here. Naturally his father being a man of the law was never going to know he had come in here. Looking at Lilly, Seb nodded "It's a little too early for me to have a drink" He said, Amazingly he was turning down a drink. "But I guess I could stay a little while, Until Ms Slater comes back"
Pulling off his hat and continuing to chew on his lip Seb looked directly downwards before clearing his throat "Could I ask you a favour?" The young male asked suddenly looking up at her "Could you possibly...put on a coat or something?" Wishing she would but hoping he had not insulted her.
"It's...not that you..I mean it's not that I don't like..I mean...uh" Deciding to just stop trying to explain himself Sebastian moved away from the front desk and towards a lounge area. Sitting himself down and glancing around the mayor's little lap dog began to fiddle with the hat in his hands.
Some may have mistaken his nervousness as a nervous twitch or something, His constant looking around and his constant clearing of the throat. But if truth be told the poor lad was petrified that his father would wander in here and see him or one of the girls jump him or something. After all Sebastian was not exactly very expeirienced when it came to the ladies

Lily grabbed the glass of whiskey she had been sipping from before he entered the establishment, it might have been too early for him but she tended to drink as early as possible. It helped to numb her mind and her body, which was a godsend with some men who came here. The brothel had it's fair share of clientele, some of whom were gentlemen, who treated the girls well and who came to them for things they couldn't get from other women. For some men it was purely about sex, but there were others who didn't really care for that at all. Lily had one man who came to see her who paid full price for a few hours just for her company. Sometimes they stayed in the bar and talked, sometimes they went to her room and played cards. Then there were the others, who treated them as though they were pieces of meat.
Lily was about to lead him into the lounge when he stopped her suddenly, asking her to cover up or something. Okay, that was a new one for her. He stammered to try and explain himself and Lily found herself unable to be insulted. She just couldn't wait for the girls to see. They would be begging her for details later on and Lily wasn't sure what she was going to say.
"Oh, of course." She glanced around, realizing that her clothes were in her room. Spotting his coat, she bit down on her lip. She had a choice, knowing the scantily clad girl who had walked past them was one of the ones who drooled over the poor guy and she was sat in the lounge. So, did she leave him alone with her whilst she ran upstairs to cover up or did she ask for his? Following him into the lounge, she smiled. "Would you lend me yours?" Her eyes glanced over to the other prostitute who was trying her best to look as though she was reading when her eyes were glued to him.

Sebastian had one trail of thought when it came to the type of men who came in here. Dirty blaggarts who were possibly married. But then again from what he had seen of Lily she seemed like a nice sort of girl who had just gotten into the wrong line of work. He was not entierly against the brothel. Just it scared him a little how a woman could sell herself so easily, Although some possibly had good reason and no other option.
Running his fingers through his short hair Seb nodded and got up pulling his coat off and holding it out to her. Having not removed it before now he felt a little more nervous. The shirt he was currently wearing was a little tight fitting and the arrival of the new woman caused him a little concern, He glanced over to see her looking at him and blushed sitting down quickly while still holding the coat out.
Chewing on his lip again which was quickly becoming a habit of his. "So have you been working here long?" Asked the male wanting to strike up conversation so that they were not sitting in an uncomfortable silence. "I mean...well you know what I mean I was not implying that you started young or anything." Setting the hat down on the chair beside him Sebastian shifted how he was sitting.

Taking the coat from him as he sat down, Lily gave the other girl 'the glare' that told her to keep her distance. There was an unwritten law within the brothel that you didn't take another girl's client. If a man picked you, then that's who he picked. There was a moment where they had a silent argument between them, before Lily pulled his coat on and sat down opposite him. She wouldn't sit beside him, not when he looked so nervous. She was so used to lounging on the chairs, seductively, that it felt strange to sit normally.
Lily sipped from her drink, her own nerves going haywire within her, sparking off each other like crackling fire. Her eyes moved to his as he asked about her, well at least they wouldn't be sat in silence. The problem was, Lily wasn't allowed to be honest with him, she wasn't allowed to tell him about who she really was. It was a rule Samantha had set in place to protect the girls. It was like a right of passage or something. When they entered the brothel, they were given new names and the old names were never to be used with the clients. They were meant to have no history and no future, just living for the moment.
"It's alright." She reassured him, she hadn't taken offense to his words. "I've been here for just over six years." She was one of the ones who didn't have a choice in the matter, that little gem had been left to the Mayor who decided it was a more fitting punishment for her than the gallows. "What about you? How long have you been working for the Mayor?" That time she couldn't hide the hatred in her voice and she quickly looked down to play with the sleeve of his jacket, running her small fingers along the stitching on the edge.

Happy that Lily had put on the coat and now that he did not have to constantly stare at her chest Sebastian looked at the girl for a long moment and gave a small smile "Thank you" He said. Blissfully unaware of the staring competition which was going on between Lily and the other girl.
As she finally spoke and broke the uneasy silence between them Sebastian nodded. Well he could not exactly ask "Do you enjoy your work?" That would be a little stupid to say the least.
Taking another look around the parlour area Seb began to chew on his lip once again. He smiled when she asked him a question the silence once more being broken. This was not exactly his element and so Sebastian was a little apprehensive about talking. Keeping his voice low Seb smiled a little "A few years" He said. "I know what your thinking" The male said with a newfound confidence "That i'm like every other man under the mayor correct?" He asked

Well, this was certainly uncomfortable. The silences that fell after each reply seemed deafening in the deserted parlour, and Lily really wasn't used to that, she was used to the men being talkative to some degree. Still, despite the tense atmosphere, Lily couldn't bring herself to admit that she liked it that way, just being able to sit and not worry about acting the prize for someone.
She only meant to glance up to see if he had noticed the poison in her voice and taken offence to it, but his smile caught her eyes and she couldn't look away. Curiosity had caught her, and she frowned as she silently asked herself what he had been smiling about. He said he had been working for the Mayor a few years, vague, just as she had expected. At least she hadn't been told to mind her own business and slapped across the cheek for having the nerve to ask. Then he cornered her with his statement as to knowing what she thought, Lily scoffed slightly, how the hell could he know what she thought about him? She was good at acting the part, at covering her feelings... then bam, he got it in one.
"I don't know what you mean..." She took her glass in her shaking hand and gulped down the rest of contents. She couldn't tell him he was right, not when it could get back to the Mayor and she could find herself back on the gallows, or worse, Samantha out of a job. Her posture had changed, her back straight as she sat as a proper lady would, the sort she had seen in books and around the town.

Sebastian looked directly at the female and narrowed his eyes slightly. For a moment he looked threatening but his expression softened and he nodded "What I mean is he isn;t as bad as everybody things" Seb said repeating his first comment as if to solidify it. "I know that maybe he has rubbed people the wrong way. But he's only ever been good to me" Shrugging his shoulder Sebastian looked down again.
Fiddling with his hat once more Seb again chewed on his lip and shook his head "But I guess not many people have my perspective on things, What would I know of the buisness the mayor has in this town, I'm just a runner" Stage two of being nervous was rambling and Sebastian was the master at it.
When drunk he could talk to anyone, Be confident around anybody. But now when sober. He was careful of his words (unless he was rambling) and tried not to rub people the wrong way. Of course when he was drunk all that went out the window and he got gobby which did rub people the wrong way.
"You know I could come back later.." He said now feeling stupid that he had rambled. A blush rose to his cheeks and he tried to hide his face best he could behind his hands.

Lily shivered when he looked at her like that, just like the other men who worked for the Mayor. There was a coldness in his eyes which scared her, even after he softened his expression. She listened silently as he went on about how the Mayor wasn't as bad as people thought, and Lily forced herself to stay still, to not show how much she disagreed with him about that. He was as bad as she thought, and she had good reason to feel that way. It made her blood boil to think someone could defend him like that, as well as making her feel sick to the stomach. He'd only ever been good to Sebastian? Well he'd only ever been cruel to Lily, threatening to have her hung for stealing a loaf of bread when she was a starving fourteen year old, letting her go through the whole case before finding her guilty. Letting her think she was going to die, then 'saving' her at the eleventh hour by sending her to the brothel to work out her punishment. Oh yeah, he was a gem.
Lily was slowly closing up, curling into his coat so that it was completely wrapped around her now, only showing her bare calves and her head. Her arms were tucked inside, nails digging into the flesh of her palm as she tried to control the emotions that memory had dredged up. She so badly wanted to tell this runner how evil his boss was, but she knew it was more than her life was worth. If it got back, the Mayor would likely have her guts for garters and close Samantha down. Lily couldn't risk that so she kept her mouth shut. Still, the churning in her stomach was getting worse. How could someone work for him and not see what kind of monster he was? She nodded numbly when he rambled, staring at her empty glass. When the hell was Samantha getting back?
She was usually good at noticing body language from people, but Lily was stuck in her own little world presently, overwhelmed with feelings she had tried to bury, memories of a girl that died the moment she stepped into the brothel. Sebastian offered to come back later, and Lily stood up, slightly shakily.
"Yes, perhaps that's a better idea." Sliding his coat from her arms, Lily handed it to him before leaving him and heading back to her desk, "Or I can tell Samantha where to find you, save you..." She felt something break inside of her, her voice fading out slightly. Placing a hand to her forehead, Lily glanced at Sebastian, "Excuse me..." She felt sick, lightheaded and her legs felt funny. Had she drunk too much? The brothel had a bar in the parlor, so Lily steadily made her way behind to grab a glass and fill it with water. "Just leave where you'll be on the paper... I'll have her come find you." Lily had her back to him, sipping at the water as she tried to take a few deep breaths to calm herself down. Across the parlor, the girl from earlier had noticed something was wrong, looking over the top of her book at the two of them.
