Currently, it is:
Lakeside, it used to be a nice town to live in. Not too large, but not too small, the people knew each other and the sense of community was strong. Whether you were born there or a stranger, people would greet you in the street with a smile and a tip of the hat. However, that all changed when Damien Greenson became Mayor.
Ruling with an iron fist, Mayor Greenson is a crooked, and generally cruel, man who takes bribes from many of the local outlaws to use the town as a safe haven. The townsfolk are the ones who suffer for it.

Hello! Welcome to Small Worlds, an RPG based in the Old West.
The board bases primarily around the town of Lakeside, which is currently under the rule of the tyrannical Mayor, where Outlaws thrive and the Good Hearted usually suffer.
So, now down to business and the rules which everyone hates.
**Registration**
1.i. Although we do not care what name you use when you register your account, the display name must ONLY be their name. TehSexyHeather<3 is not acceptable, Heather Montrose is.
1.ii. Please, don’t even think of registering if you are under 17! We’re just covering our own backsides because the board will deal with some more mature material which we really don’t want to deal with proboards getting on our butts because your parents have found out and complained!
**Applications**
2.i. First off. There is an application form which has been thought through and a lot of effort put into it. Therefore, USE IT. Anyone who hasn’t used the correct formation to apply will be given just one warning to rectify it and then it will be scrapped. Simple as.
2.ii. We’re not tyrants about the historically accurate part. PBs (played by) do not have to look Western but BE REALISTIC, seriously.
No hand drawn / anime characters, real people only please! Using a picture of Marcia Cross from Desperate Housewives as an eighteen-year-old character is not going to work. We will allow some leeway, i.e. actors who look younger than they are (within reason) and using younger pictures of actors. Using someone like Marilyn Manson as a PB. He would have likely been burned at the stake or something back then. Heavily made up men is a big no no. So are people with wild coloured hair, dreadlocks, or outlandish makeup routines. These things weren't in the norm, or even outside of the norm, in the 1800s, and there are plenty of people whose appearances would fit in well here, so just don't be dumb, k? Lastly, check this list to see what sorts of characters are allowed on the board. It’s valid info from various sources so take a read.
2.iii. Accepted applications will be moved to their appropriate area within the Accepted Characters board. Do not play your character until they are accepted and placed in this board. If you do, it is grounds for your application heading straight to the trash can.
2.iv. Yes, the characters might be your creations, but the overall board, the plot, the canons, they are ours. Therefore do not throw a hissy fit when we ask you to amend something which we do not feel would fit in with the overall theme or feel of the board. We have reasons behind our requests. We want you to play with us, so please be nice and help make our board fun for all!
2.v. Be unique please! As the board grows, we might end up putting short-term bans on certain types of character. To stop this happening, please be unique with your creation. Not everyone needs to be an outlaw or a hooker; the characters that make up the townsfolk are just as fun to play! Try being one of the women in the town who dislikes the hookers, or try being a genuine shop owner who is trying to make a living under the mayor’s iron fist.
2.vi. There is no original character limit on this board, however…

Hector plays Bobby, Harriet and Mr. Reeves and has applied for his new character Billy Jo. Mr Reeves has one thread where he replies once a week max. Harriet and Bobby haven’t shown any activity in three weeks and two months respectively. Billy Jo will not be accepted until Harriet and Bobby have shown more activity or are let go.
2.vii. Canons are limited to two per person, as long as they are played regularly.
**One Week Rule**
3.i. Canons are available for reservation, then you have one week to get an application up before they go up for grabs again.
3.ii You can reserve up to five celebrities at one time, but you still have one week to get the application up or they go up for grabs again.
3.iii. Canons, once accepted, should be played once a week at least. Of course we understand life will throw you the bad eggs so we will be lenient if you let us know.
3.iv If you post an application and are asked to change something, you have a week to do so before your application is added to the scrap heap.
***NEW***8/14/08***3.v We understand that it takes time to create a character, and we encourage you to use word processing programs and saving files on your own computer if you do not have time to finish an application at one sitting. However, we also realize that sometimes these options are not feasible, and will allow you to post your unfinished application on the site. If you do not return within one week and finish your application, it will be deleted.
**Profiles**
4.i. Avatars: 100x100 pixels (subject to change)
4.ii. Signature Picture: 500x300 pixels max. (final – we do not want to scroll through lots of pretty pictures and words to get to the next post)
4.iii. Animated gifs are fine, just make sure they don’t take forever to load.
Pretty simple yeah? Break these rules and your image might disappear into the ether. Additionally, if you have any problems with your PB or graphics (can’t make them yourself?) feel free to hit the graphics shop to request some help.
**Advertising**
5.i.THE ADVERTS AND AFFILIATES BOARD IS GUEST FRIENDLY. There, so you can’t miss it. Please don’t sign up an account just to advertise because we will delete your post, delete your account and ban your IP. Consider that the warning.
5.ii. Do not PM or email anyone to advertise your site. If we find out this is happening, we will take appropriate action and it will not be pretty.
The adverts and affiliates board is for other boards only. Your signatures are for character profile, plotters, journals, and/or thread trackers only. The RP Related board is for advertising open threads. Don’t mix these up, okay? Adverts to other boards in signatures will not be tolerated; links to threads in adverts and affiliates will be deleted, etc.
**Roleplaying**
6.i. Okay, we are not a beginner’s rpg. Therefore, one-line posts will not be tolerated full stop.
6.ii. Word Counts. We do not have a minimum word requirement because we believe in quality over quantity. A good number of words to shoot for, though, is 250+. We understand that there are going to be short posts which will be needed to get the plot moving in a thread, but if we observe constant one-liners or otherwise very short posts, we will be contacting you, usually with help on how to improve, and later taking more serious measure if necessary. When in doubt, describe things around them, how they feel, mentally and physically.
6.iv. Be realistic with your character. S/he is not going to go and give the Mayor a piece of his/her mind, not unless you want your character to end up in a six-foot deep ditch. Your fifteen year old preacher’s son is not going to be allowed in the brothel with his pocket money for some fun. Don't be dumb, k?
6.v. This board is R rated which basically means tastefully done. They’re in bed? Fine. Kissing? Good on them! Undressing and heavy petting? Someone’s getting lucky tonight!! Anything further? Fade out and fade in after, mention how they made love or whatever, take it to PMs, or, if you really need to, there is a password protected board if you want to be the exhibitionist. Seriously though, even in that board, we do not need to know every little detail okay? Bodily sounds not made by the vocal chords, mentioning of juices, we will hunt you down after vomiting violently in whatever’s nearest to us. By the way, anything that might be a little risqué, please put a warning in the beginning of the title to warn off those of us who do not want to read it. Thanks!
6.vi. Playing with your little ‘clique’ will not be accepted. It is hard to start out on a new board so please try and be welcoming! Offer play!
6.vii. If you have made the commitment to thread with someone then please do not just stop replying without talking to the other players. Fine, if the thread isn't going anywhere or you're getting bored with it, PM or IM the other player and work out ways to jazz it up. There is nothing more hurtful than watching people continue to post but ignore your thread.
6.viii. Don't nag, especially not in the cbox. There's nothing more off-putting than seeing "HEY WHY AREN'T YOU POSTING FOR ME?" PM is there for a reason! If you think your thread has been forgotten, then PMing or IMing the person to gently remind them about it is okay, but please do not demand that someone reply to you. In a similar vein, when tagging someone for play, it's a little nicer to ask them first before opening a thread. You can start planning things for the thread that way.
6.ix. Please be respectful to other players. If you don't like someone's style, then don't play with them, simple as that. Also, do not hound someone to play with you.
6.x. PET PEEVE ALERT! We’ve already mentioned that we are not a beginner’s rpg, so please, PROPER ENGLISH ONLY. Text speak will get you a verbal bitch slap. You know what? We might even add it on the profanity list!
6.xi. Spell checkers. They are brilliant inventions, aren’t they!? USE THEM! Firefox have even been nice enough to include one to check as you post. If you don’t use Firefox, try using Microsoft Word or another word processing program. Also, please watch grammar.
6.xii. Profanity is fine, just don’t go overboard with it, okay?
6.xiii. Godmoding: Giving your character Godlike powers in threads. This is a board that deals with normal people and therefore there shouldn't be any powers to deal with. However, in cases where characters fight, your character can't always dodge the punches aimed at them but make contact with all the punches they throw.
Mary Sue: The bane of role players' lives. No one is perfect, it is impossible. Even blooming robots that were created to be perfect never are. Your character will need realistic flaws.
Please note: Playing either one of these is an excellent way to get yourself ignored on a board.
6.xiv. Right, drama is good, fights are brilliant! However, you cannot kill or severely harm other characters without their owners' consent. Slapping your boyfriend during an argument is fine but the following is not quite appropriate:

It struck his chest sending him hurtling to the floor. Knocked out, Barney couldn't stop Herb from landing beside him and beating him with his fists.
This would be far more acceptable:

Moving to the side, the arrow whizzed past him, sending a sharp pain to burst from Herb's cheek. The metal tip had grazed the skin and blood began to drip from the wound. No time to worry about that now though, he needed to continue to fight. Letting out a gutteral roar, Herb felt the electricity start to build from deep within him, sparking the muscles as it crept down his arms. Slamming his fists together, Herb connected the circuit and sent a bolt of bright blue charge in Barry's direction.
You have left the post open, it is up to the other player to decide how much it hurt. Just like your own character, however, the other player cannot constantly dodge.
6.xv. Any storyline that has to do with a CANON character must be run through the staff first. Please PM the admin about any of the following: relationships, death, seriously wounding, families etc.
**General Rules**
7.i. OOC bullying. We will not stand for this. There is no excuse for being a bitch to someone. Making someone feel down about their writing, about who they are, about their character or threatening someone OOC is unacceptable and we will deal with it really severely. Depending on how bad it is depends on the punishment, but it will range from a warning to banning.
That being said, IC is fine... we all love a bit of IC banter between characters! Just make sure it is said ICly.
7.ii.IMPORTANT!! Here is the quickest route to being banned.

Let’s get some things straight, okay?
We signed up for this board. We skinned, set up, and made graphics for this board. We wrote the plot, canons, and application form for this board. We spent hours hunched over a keyboard to write these rules for this board. We are the ones who have to read through all the applications and keep the reservations in check for this board.
This is our baby, okay? As much as we love you coming here to play, this is our board and it comes above anything else. If we do something, it is for the good of the board and it is nothing personal. So here’s a hint, DON’T MAKE IT PERSONAL! We want the board to be the best, asking you to follow the rules is our way of doing that. Do not get arsy, especially with Cam, she is a Capricorn and will verbally bitch slap you.
**Punishments**
X1 PM from a staff member, it’ll be nice and polite, pointing out the mistakes and asking you to change whatever it is – consider this warning number one
X2 Another PM from a staff member and it won’t be as polite, you can count on it. The points will be highlighted in a more aggressive and not so sugar coated way. Again, you’re going to have to change – consider this warning number two
X3 The last PM, probably from a different staff member. By now, you've probably managed to royally piss off both of us. The message may be IN ALL CAPS LIKE THIS AND MIGHT INCLUDE SWEARING! Your problems will be listed and you will be told to change. This is your last chance, GOT IT? LAST CHANCE – consider this warning number three.
X4 Right, we’re basically sick of you. One of two things will happen, depending on how much you have pissed us off.
1) We will pick one of your characters, note WE will pick the character. You will receive a PM from one of us telling you how and where your character shall meet their demise. For those who want it put simply, we will tell you how and where your character will die. You will then be given a date for when this will have to be done by. You have until this time to write up the post. The silver lining to this is that we will allow you to keep the rest of your characters but future applications will be harder to get approved – consider it a black mark against your name. If you decide, nah, I don’t want to kill off my character, no problem; we will do it for you. However, be warned, our way will be a lot nastier, a lot more embarrassing, and it might mean you get a second punishment as well. The second punishment is…
2) You’re banned. This comes in three degrees of severity.
i) The staff will negotiate a time for which you will not be able to post on the board. We will not ban your IP address, you can come and go, but we are appealing to your better nature to not post or communicate on the board for the length of your ban. Break this? Read on.
ii) You’re banned, your IP is banned, you are no longer welcome on the board. However, you can appeal to a staff member, if you’re lucky enough to have their IMs. If you can get one of them to convince the rest of us, you’re in but on your last leg and all the above restrictions apply. You will also have to reapply for your characters and canons will be off limits, permanently. iii) You’re banned, your IP is banned, you are no longer welcome on the board. That’s it. No hope of return. Sorry, we think there’s been enough warnings and you’re not coming back, no matter how much you cry and moan to a staff member (mind you, they’ll probably block you on IMs too.)
